Welcome

Who We Are

We are a group of sighthound enthusiasts in the Upper Midwest specializing in straight-line and oval racing.

Our dedicated members enjoy meeting and teaching newcomers of all ages and skill levels about straight-line and oval racing for sighthounds.

Passion, positivity, enthusiasm and a focus on safety for dogs and handlers go hand-in-hand with everything we do.

Come join us at our next event — we’d love to share all that NARC has to offer!

May Events

Practice Day - Friday, May 2nd, at King’s Ranch

Attention LGRA and AOK9 current and future racers!

NARC will be hosting an all-breed straight-line racing practice for general schooling, box training, puppy bumps, and qualifying runs on

Friday, May 2nd, at King’s Ranch.

Reserve your practice spot by pre-registering here: Registration Link

Schedule

  • 12:00 p.m. – Course setup (volunteers needed!)

  • 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. – Running dogs

Practice Details

  • Practice fee: $10 (waived for volunteers assisting with key event duties)

  • Volunteer roles include:

    • Field setup

    • Catching and releasing dogs

    • Lure operation

    • Managing the starting line

    • Training new volunteers in essential racing roles (e.g., lure operation, foul judging, finish line judging, starting line)

This is a great opportunity to improve your dog’s racing performance—from getting comfortable with wearing a muzzle and starting efficiently to

maintaining focus on the lure, running the full track distance, and reinforcing strong finishes.

Required Equipment

  • Muzzles – Dogs must wear a properly fitted “basket” style muzzle that allows them to pant while running (NARC does not have muzzles to lend).

  • Leashes – Two leashes are required (one for releasing, one for catching).

  • Collars – Optional but must be flat with no dangling items (e.g., tags).

Bitches in season are not permitted to participate.
